About the Author/Artist

I was born in Italy (Istria), grew up on a farm in the Canadian Prairies (Southern Alberta), received my post secondary education at U. of A.(Edmonton) and U. of C. (Calgary), and taught school (the entire gamut of elementary through high school, plus teacher-librarian, vice principal and principal) mainly in Alberta. I have written novels, short stories, non-fiction articles, and poetry.

In the summer of 1992, my husband and I moved to Vancouver Island and soon after, I became a member of the local writers' group, the Spindrift Writers. Vancouver Island was a paradise where I could wander my yard ten times a day and each time find something new to look at. And wander I did, (complete with cup of coffee in hand). As you can well imagine, life on the island became a little too relaxed. That was when I decided to take up watercolors--to help me write (to see, to feel). The result was that I fell in love with painting, dove into a series of lessons and workshops, joined artist groups and painted, painted, painted.

My teaching never left me. In the past few years, I have offered several sessions of "Italian for Beginners" and "Creative Writing" courses at Malaspina College (Parksville Campus), as well as several speaking and conference engagements (most recently, at the Teacher Assistant Training Conference, Feb. 11-12,1999 Calgary, Alberta).

I still write full time. (When I'm not painting , gardening, knitting, boating, enjoying nature…)
